After the last visitation for accreditation in 2013, the Master Program of Water Engineering (WRE) Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) again received the visit of the Dikti (Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia) assessor. This time the two assessors who come are Prof.Ir Indratmo Soekarno, M.Sc., Ph.D. from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Prof. Ir. Dr. Ing. Herman Parung, M.Eng. from Hasanuddin University. Located in the 3rd-floor Meeting Room of FTUB Building, visitation was held on 5-6 February 2018.

The arrival of Assessor Team was welcomed by UB Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Bisri, MS., Dean of FT-UB Dr. Ir. Pitojo Tri Juwono, MT along with the ranks of the Head of the WRE Department Dr.Ir. Ussy Andawayanti, MS., Head of WRE Master Program Dr.Eng. Donny Harisuseno, ST., MT, and all the Task Force team of WRE Department. Also attending this event are the Head of Department, Head of Academic Supporting Unit, and Head of Administration Affairs in FT-UB.

“For us, accreditation visitation is a place for us to evaluate our institution so that we can continue to improve the quality and our service as an educational institution. To represent the Faculty of Engineering I welcome the arrival of the assessors in FTUB,” said Dr. Pitojo welcomed the two BAN-PT assessors.

In line with the Dean, UB Rector, Prof. Bisri revealed that UB is very concerned to organize the quality assurance given to its stakeholders, including students, educators, the public, and users. According to him, internal and external audits are important factors to ensure that the performance of each part is maintained consistently and increased. For Masters and Doctoral levels, the rector provides specific direction for improving the quality and quantity of research.

“From what I learned when I had the opportunity to visit higher education institutions in developed countries, they have focused on making the campus as the center for research through the development of laboratories. So in recent years, we started a laboratory competition grant program, and the WRE Department has one of the most qualified laboratories,” said the Professor of WRE FT-UB Department proudly.

After the official opening by the Rector, the visitation activity begins with a dialogue between the assessor with the students and alumni. Followed by faculty leaders to verify the suitability of faculty members. Then the event continued with a dialogue between the assessor with the WRE Department accreditation task force to verify the completeness of the supporting documents. On this occasion, the assessor also conducts interviews with employees and lecturers of WRE department to complete the assessment documents. (humasFT)
