Water Resources Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB) will build a new building this year.

The cornerstone was laid by the UB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Bisri, MS, Vice Rector II  Dr. Sihabudin, SH., MH., Vice Rector III Prof. Dr. Ir. Arief Prajitno, MS., Dean of FT-UB Dr. Ir. Pitojo Tri Juwono, MT., and Head of the Water Resources Department Ir. Moh. Sholichin, MT., Ph.D.

The activity that also invited all the Dean cross faculty in UB was held on Monday, May 30, 2016, River Engineering and Swamp Laboratory.

In his speech, Dr. Pitojo said that the construction of this building is one of FT programs to prepare and enhance the learning infrastructure facilities, especially in the Water Resources Engineering Department.

The building which was built on an area of ​​500 m2 is planned to become sixth stories building, on the ground floor will be built for river engineering laboratory, 2 floors for administration activity, and three  floors for classrooms.

As a form of infrastructure improvement proposition, Pitojo explained further, FT has allocated 24.5 billion rupiah for capital expenditure building budget. Nineteen billion has been absorbed for this construction. The rest is for routine maintenance and other development.

“One of them is the development of our laboratory the Ngijo village Malang Regency which inshaaAllah will also be built this year as well,” said the lecturer expert in the field of Water Resources Engineering.

The building is targeted to be completed this year. So hopefully in the second semester next year can already be used by the student.

Meanwhile, Prof. Bisri was determined that in 2016 the construction of new buildings in UB can be resolved. This year almost 90% of the buildings are completed. Thus, he expected future development can be shifted on the UB Dieng campus building.

“Next year we will also concentrate in the development of laboratories,” explained Prof. Bisri, professor in the field of Water Resources Engineering.
